I have been drawing and painting for over 40 years, since turning away from studies in architecture at MIT, circa 1967-70, to focus on the Fine Arts. Initially, I was intrigued by surrealism, and applied skills in photorealism to create complex surreal oil canvases with a dark flair (see several examples in the tab, "My Dream World"). In the 1980’s these efforts earned me the Juror’s Prize at the “UNH Revisited” Alumni Show" in 1981, as well as the Sawyer Award for Painting at the 38th Annual New Hampshire Art Association Exhibition at the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester, NH in 1985. My artistic career was more recently awarded the Grand Prize in the Art List’s worldwide on-line Artist of the Month Contest in 2018, and I became a featured artist at Artsy Shark in 2020.

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
My inspiration has always been the trials and tribulations of our life in a mortal world. Originally, this inspiration found me deep in the dark depths of outer space. But, as I grew to love the possibilities of life on this Earth, my viewpoint became ever more hopeful. Today, I look at life level-headed while maintaining the optimistic viewpoint that gives my art its meaning and unique direction.
My current top-level media is oil on canvas. However, I use several techniques to achieve my goal of artistic honesty and spirited conversation with the observer. These include the utilization of skills in photorealistic recreation of a scene for dream and portrait imagery, a more Rembrandtesque use of impasto to create Impressionistic energy in the visual dialog, and the even more free application of palette knife energy to approach the Freudian Id energy that underlies all creative activity. I also use watercolor, ink, and colored pencil in the development of ideas that might then grow into a more formal treatment with oils.
Only the last 3 years' highlights are listed here. Click here for the entire list in my CV.
