Abstract of a classical Greek or Roman capital that sits at the top of the columns used in civic, religious, and private buildings.
The original drawing was created with pen on paper. When it was completed I saw the image of the top of a classic Greek temple column. Some parts of the sketch design also appear to show fanciful floral and animal imagery as part of the capital.
The coloration phase of the work was guided by this vision, and was completed by coloring the background of a sketch copy using colored pencils. The transfer of the original design to canvas was accomplished with a computer projector, projecting the original drawing onto the blank canvas whereby it could be redrawn at the proper size to fit the dimensions of the canvas.
