The original line drawing ink on paper sketch was only about 4" x 4". After creating four different color drawings I asked my wife Emma and my daughter Emily which color scheme they preferred. They each liked a different scheme. Both looked good to me, so I decided to honor them both by creating two oil on canvas versions of the drawing. Hence was born Emma's Transit, the choice of my wife. The name 'Transit'' was chosen as the orange ball appeared to me as a star with the line crossing it tracing the path of a planet moving across the face of the star, a motion known in astronomy as a transit.
