Click on the "Original Oil Painting" image in The Good Heart page for detailed views of this painting. This is an oil painting of the 14th Dalai Lama, guided with permission from a photograph taken by Don Farber in the 1990s. The Dalai Lama inspires me with his honesty and selfless dedication to helping their fellow men, women, and their children. Future portraits in this series will include U.S. government leaders such as Mitt Romney, John Kasich, John McCain, as well as several other members of the Democratic Party. They will also include world leaders in politics, science, and philosophy, such as, the Pope, Martin Luther King, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Barack Obama. The pose is from the cover of a book titled "The Art of Happiness: A Handbook for Living". The photograph was taken by Don Farber prior to the book's publication in 1998. This is why the Dalai Lama looks so much younger in this painting than he does today.
